A Rebuke to the Borrower of Books

Authors Note: Have you ever lent someone your book, only to discover that they have moved your book mark? This happened to me, so I wrote a short poem by way of a stern rebuke…

A Rebuke to the Borrower of Books

What!? Thou art hath displaced mine marker
From its rightful place betwixt pages seen and unseen!
Thou art hath rendered resumption a mystery unto me
And I must racketh my brains to divine my leaving off!
Forsooth, thou is a wrecker of convenience and order
And thy sin has not gone unnoticed by mine scholarly eye!
Be warned, lest mine lending of tomes doth cease,
And the generosity of mine spirit doth waver!
Marketh my words, and marketh with thine own marker
That thine eyes may continue blessed with the fruits of mine library!
